Fujitsu Services

Category: Reporting, Intranet Development, Custom Application Development
Languages: HTML, CSS, Javascript, ASP, MS-SQL

Fujitsu employed me on a contract basis to develop new web based applications and maintain their existing appliaction set. Over the 18 month period I was under contract, I created a total of 12 applications to help streamline their operations.

In keeping with their LEAN management ideals, my role was to identify manual / paper based processes and replace them with an application housed on their internal network. Not only did I develop and deliver the applications, but I decreased the amount of internal network traffic by by a significant amount through the use of asynchronous page requests and efficient coding practices.

Due to applications hosted on internal networks, these are unable to view online. Why don't you get in touch with me and we can talk in more detail about intranet development.

University of Bristol

Positive Impact Tours

Category: Search function, Custom Application Development
Languages: HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, MySQL

Due to the university's online journal library being slow and difficult to navigate, I was hired to create a new database for research students. This application had to be written using open source software so it can slot in with the existing application set running on the Mathematics Department internal network.

My role was to create the search functionality. The surrounding design is property of the University of Bristol.

Virgin Media

Category: Reporting, Intranet Development, Custom Application Development
Languages: HTML, CSS, Javascript, ASP, MS-SQL

Virgin Media needed an application for monitoring the ADSL service faults that were being reported to the call centre. The specific requirements were to monitor the duration the fault spent with each service provider, be it Cable & Wireless, British Telecom or Virgin Media.

The second main feature of the application was the representation of the data had to be in graphical format. The application showed the data in various formats, such as pie charts, bar charts and line charts. The application also had the feature to export to a spreadsheet and mail itself to a specified user on the internal network.

Due to applications hosted on internal networks, these are unable to view online. Why don't you get in touch with me and we can talk in more detail about custom application development.

IBM, Swansea

Ouch 2 Wow for IBM

Category: Reporting, Custom Application Development
Languages: HTML, CSS, Javascript, ASP, MS-SQL

IBM based in Swansea handle the technical support for a large ISP and digital television provider. They employ over 300 technical support agents who deal with the customer directly over the phone.

My task was to create an application that could capture data via an assessor listening in to the call. The assessor could then grade the agent based upon their advice given, telephone manner and call handle time, amongst other criteria.

Once the assessment had been completed the application would email the generated results to the agent's team manager and a copy to the agent themself. A copy of the assessment would also be archived on a centralised database that allowed senior management to view statistics based upon a selection of options such as weekly, monthly and annually, and where necessary, generate a spreadsheet for emailing, printing or other manipulation.

Positive Impact Tours

Positive Impact Tours

Category: Brochure website
Languages: HTML, CSS, Javascript

The brief was for the use of light colours to create a relaxed, soft mood. The house is one of only two "turret" houses in Slovenia, so images of the house were essential.

Positive Impact Tours provided hundreds of high quality, beautiful photographs of the house and surrounding areas. I felt it would be a shame to waste the images with small pictures, so I opted for the almost book-like layout. This style of layout delivers both information and beautiful high resolution images.
